Graduation Day
Celebration
On June 8, 2024, we
proudly celebrated the graduation of 14 students who completed their program in
May. The event took place in our community, where the students contributed
their own funds to prepare a delightful dance performance for the invited
guests. Each student attended the ceremony with a parent, and several other
guests were also welcomed.
The celebration commenced
with a Eucharistic Mass presided over by Fr. Marcelin Havugimana from Butare
Diocese, Karama Parish. In his homily, he emphasized the importance of love and
collaboration among the youth, urging them to prioritize unity over competition.
This sense of togetherness, he noted, is essential for their future success and
ability to work collectively.
After the Mass, visitors toured the center to
witness first-hand the skills the students had acquired during their training.
Parents and guests expressed their admiration for the progress the students had
made in just six months. The teacher provided an overview of the students'
achievements and discussed the challenges they face that hinder their further
development.
Among the distinguished
guests was Mr. Welcome Semenani, representing our local sector. He was invited
to present the certificates to the graduating students and took the opportunity
to speak with them. After distributing the certificates, he reiterated the
importance of working together as a cooperative. He promised to advocate with
local government officials to secure a workspace for the group while they await
the opportunity to establish their own.
A representative of the
parents expressed heartfelt gratitude toward the sisters and trainers who
supported the students throughout their journey, helping them reach this
significant milestone. Each graduate proudly wore clothing they had created
themselves, showcasing their skills as they marched in front of the guests,
adding a special touch to the celebration.
Overall, the graduation
day was a joyous occasion that celebrated the hard work and achievements of our
students, while also fostering a spirit of community and collaboration. We look
forward to supporting them as they embark on their next steps.
